RV winterization in Calgary: what to confirm before the cold

Prepare the RV, water-system details and storage location for a clear mobile winterization request in Calgary.

BlueBeaver RV Service ·

Book around the RV and its equipment

Share the RV year, make, model and type, plus the service address and intended storage date. Tell the team whether it has a tank-style or tankless water heater, a water filter, washing-machine connections, an ice maker, an exterior shower or other connected equipment. Manufacturer instructions differ: the installed components matter more than a generic checklist. Include clear photos of accessible water-management and appliance labels when you can do so without removing panels.

Identify what is already in the system

Say whether the RV is currently connected to city water, whether the fresh and waste tanks have been emptied, and whether any antifreeze is already present. Mention leaks, a pump that does not hold pressure, valves that will not move or equipment that was modified. Winterization is storage preparation; it should not silently become diagnosis of an existing fault. The estimate can separate additional investigation or repairs from the agreed seasonal service.

Confirm the water heater and plumbing scope

Keystone and Forest River owner resources both distinguish water-heater bypass and draining from protection of the remaining plumbing. Tankless and other appliance-specific systems may require their own procedure. Ask which accessible tanks, fixtures, traps, filters, appliances and exterior connections are included for your RV. Never use automotive antifreeze in a potable-water system, and do not operate a winterized water heater or plumbing system until it has been correctly returned to service.

Prepare a workable mobile-service location

Confirm that the driveway, storage yard or campground permits service work. Provide gate or stall instructions and enough working room around the RV. Ask what access, power, water or disposal arrangements are needed for the agreed method. Keep pets and belongings away from the work area. Weather and site conditions can affect a mobile appointment; if a visit cannot be finished, BlueBeaver can record the remaining work and arrange a return without issuing the final invoice first.

Keep a useful winterization record

The completion record should identify the systems treated, notable exclusions, products used where relevant and any unresolved concerns. Save it with the RV owner and component manuals so spring commissioning starts from the actual work performed. Winterization does not replace roof, tire, battery, propane, appliance or running-gear maintenance. Ask for those items separately when they need attention.
