Describe the pattern before choosing a replacement

A pump that starts briefly with the taps closed, runs continuously or makes a new noise needs a clear symptom description. Tell the team which pattern you noticed, when it started and whether water flow changed. Pentair’s Shurflo troubleshooting information lists several system conditions associated with cycling and low flow, so the symptom alone does not establish that the pump must be replaced. Start with an assessment rather than ordering a part based only on the sound.

Identify the water source and affected fixtures

Explain whether the concern occurred while using the fresh-water tank and onboard pump, an external water connection, or both at different times. Include the tank level you observed on the normal display, whether all fixtures were affected and any unusual behaviour already noticed. An example such as “The pump briefly starts every few minutes with taps closed when we use the tank” is useful context. Do not repeat tests, operate unfamiliar valves or change settings solely to collect booking details.

Send identification and recent service history

Share the RV year, make and model and the pump brand and model from existing paperwork or a safely accessible label. Add information about recent winterization, plumbing repairs, filter changes or a suspected freeze event. Photograph accessible areas from a safe position without removing covers or reaching near electrical connections. If the pump cannot be identified, mark it unknown; the technician can establish the equipment during an agreed visit.

Report visible moisture as a separate concern

Attach existing photos of water marks, damp cabinetry or a visible drip and describe where you first noticed it. Moisture may require a different assessment from the pump itself, and a photo cannot show all concealed damage. Do not leave an active leak unattended or continue operating the system to demonstrate it. Follow the RV owner’s instructions for putting the affected system out of use, and contact the office about the immediate concern before waiting for a routine appointment.

Agree what the visit will assess

Choose Water system diagnostics using the booking button below. Include the service address, storage access and whether water or external power is available. The team reviews suitability, scope and scheduling before confirming a visit. Discuss whether the request is for diagnosis, an agreed replacement or preventative care. Pentair’s pump guidance treats strainer care, sanitization and winterization as maintenance tasks; these do not substitute for identifying the cause of an active fault. Parts, additional work and a return visit may need separate approval.

Keep findings and maintenance together

After service, retain the diagnosis, completed work, fitted part details and any remaining recommendations with your RV records. Ask whether a follow-up applies to the pump, plumbing or another component, and which findings remain uncertain. Maintenance requirements depend on the installed equipment; use its instructions rather than a generic schedule for every RV. A documented assessment helps your next service request start with the work actually completed instead of another guess about the same symptom.
