RV trailer bearing and brake service in Calgary: what to book
Prepare for RV trailer bearing and brake service in Calgary: identify your axle, describe symptoms and agree on inspection, repacking or repair.
BlueBeaver RV Service ·Start with the reason for the visit
A routine bearing service, a brake concern and a tire replacement are different requests. Tell BlueBeaver whether you are planning maintenance before a trip, checking a trailer with unknown service history, or reporting a change you noticed while towing. Include the travel trailer or fifth-wheel year, make and model, the number of axles, and your intended departure date. If a used trailer came without records, say that directly. A clear starting point helps the team plan the inspection and discuss possible parts before the appointment.
A grease fitting does not tell the whole story
Bearing arrangements need different care. Dexter explains that its E-Z Lube lubrication feature does not replace periodic bearing inspection. Its Nev-R-Lube bearings are sealed cartridges that do not require grease repacking, but still require inspection. Send existing axle paperwork or a photo of a safely accessible label if you have one; do not crawl underneath an unsupported trailer to find it. The technician can identify the installed equipment. Use its manufacturer maintenance schedule rather than assuming every axle needs the same procedure or interval.
Describe brake symptoms without diagnosing the cause
Useful notes include pulling to one side, uneven braking, unusual noise, a brake-controller warning, or grease appearing around a wheel. State when the issue began and mention recent tire, hub, axle or tow-vehicle work. Lippert warns that continued grease leakage can contaminate braking components and reduce braking performance. A photo may help with preparation, but it cannot establish the internal condition of a hub or brake. If you suspect a brake or wheel-end failure, stop towing in a safe place and arrange professional assessment; do not make another trip to reproduce it.
Ask what the estimate includes
For conventional serviceable bearings, ask whether the agreed work includes inspecting the bearings and related surfaces, appropriate lubrication, seals and reassembly. Keep brake inspection and any required adjustments or replacement parts clearly identified. A bearing repack is not an automatic replacement of worn bearings, drums, magnets, shoes or an entire brake assembly. Ask how additional findings will be priced and approved, and whether the quote covers every wheel or selected wheel positions. If parts must be ordered, agree on the next visit before planning to use the trailer.
Prepare the trailer and service location
Provide the service address, postal code, gate code or storage-stall instructions through your private booking, along with permission for mobile work. Tell us about the ground surface, access around both sides, and anything that restricts wheel access. Share the trailer rating and tire-label photos you already have, recent service invoices, and the approximate distance travelled since the last bearing or brake work if known. Leave lifting and wheel removal to the technician. Site conditions and equipment determine whether the work can be completed at that location.
Keep a record that makes the next visit easier
Ask the service notes to identify the axle or hub equipment where known, wheel positions inspected, observed condition, parts fitted, and any work left outstanding. Record the service date and follow the applicable manufacturer schedule for future checks. When wheels have been removed, ask for the equipment-specific wheel-nut recheck instructions before towing; Dexter notes that wheel fastening checks are important after wheel installation. Save the invoice and released report with your trailer records. To request a visit, choose Wheel bearing & brake service below and describe your concern; the team will confirm scope and availability.
